”As a Canadian living in Hanoi, it can be difficult to explain your love of skating and ice hockey to others. But today, I got the chance to showcase how fun whipping around a frozen surface in shorts can be.
My boyfriend and I went to Royal City, and obviously the highlight of our trip was the ice rink. It was better than I thought it would be!
The mall itself was a fun experience, although come to think of it, I didn’t buy anything. The parking is fine as long as you write down where you are, the staff was friendly everywhere we went, and it was immaculate.
The skating is a bit steep $10 a person for an hour, but the novelty is just too much to pass up. Next time, I think we’ll go bowling.”_ Susan Rose
”The Vincom Mega Mall at the Royal City is a huge mall consisting of several different types of stores, including the usual department store, an eco-friendly housing goods store and several Korean stores. However, what sets Vincom Mega Mall apart from the other malls like Parkson’s and PicoMall are the bowling alley, water park and ice rink!
My wife and I did not get a chance to go bowling or to see the lanes, but the mere fact that they have a bowling alley is a plus. The water park looked like a lot of fun but we did not go inside to see it. What we did see was pretty cool though; there lots of things for the children to climb on and the adults seemed to be having a good time too. And you can’t miss the ice rink as its in the center of the mall. They even shut it down so that they could run the zamboni on the ice.
There is also a cinema at the Mega Mall.
Lastly, there are a lot of restaurants at the Mega Mall. Most of them serve Vietnamese food, but we also saw Italian, French and even an upscale steak house. For my fellow Americans, you can even find a Carl’s Jr. Hamburger joint here.
Two minor complaints though. The first is that the Food Village is separated into sections that don’t seem to have any particular arrangement or order. So when you look at a map to find the restaurant that you want, this brings me to my second gripe: the maps aren’t oriented correctly, so it’s hard to find places. Some of them have assistants standing by to help, but they wouldn’t need to employ someone to stand there if they had made the maps correctly.
All in all though, this is the new mall of choice for my wife and I. It’s upscale, very clean and there’s so much to do here. Will definitely return on a regular basis.”Damooster
