Review:

”I was very surprised to read the review by “bloodaxe”. Far be it for me to criticize someone else’s right to make comment but to post such a scathing review under a pseudonym is hardly a fair thing to do and not really in the spirit of constructive feedback. I have only been in Vietnam for a couple of months so do not profess to be an expert on Hanoi nightlife. I have however been to R & R many times as a customer and a performing musician. I have a great deal of praise and respect for the Manager Jez and the staff who work the bar. The place is always welcoming, the drinks selection vast and the food excellent. The girls are all friendly, decent, young ladies whom I have become quite friendly with and it concerns me that “bloodaxe” would denigrate the R & R in this way, perhaps putting these staff’s jobs at risk. I have heard a different version to what went on the night referred to by “bloodaxe” but HEY he is entitled to his opinion. Just a pity he didn’t put his name behind that opinion. I am of course biased when it comes to his negative comments regarding the music. The Electric Yard Dogs perform great “Rockabilly” and Evil Priestley, good old “Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Joanne on a Thursday night punches out great Rock and Blues tunes to rival Tina Turner. And Jordan is a talented singer song writer.
My personal view on feedback of any sort is that it should be done using the name of the person giving the feedback – not hiding behind a nickname. I prefer to only give public feedback for positive experiences, expressing negative experiences directly to the establishment at the time to enable them to respond to it, learn from it and improve. But HEY – that is only my opinion !!”

”We have been pretty much once or twice a month regulars of R & R for the past 3 years at their old address as well as this new one. In all this time we have never had any issues with food and drink, service or the other customers that frequent there and would give it a 5 star rating.

Then we have last night……apparently a while ago the original owner either sold half the business, or the lot, and has stayed on as Manager, I’m not too sure of the story but it certainly seems like the downfall of the place.

The new owner/part-owner appears to be one of those fat, sleazy men who think they can treat the staff as their own personal groping pole! Now, the girls who work here have always offered the best service out – they were friendly and dressed well. A few months back the new uniform seemed to be introduced…hot pants and tight shirts, the staff looked so uncomfortable with it.

Head there last night and there is only one of the original girls left and a new girl working. The new owner/part-owner is sitting there with one of his friends, another fat-sex tourist looking pig. There were three girls at the bar and these two “men” couldn’t keep their roaming hands off them….after 5 minutes these girls quickly left the bar because of the harassment.

Then the owner/part-owner starts a rant and rave, in the loudest voice, about how some customer is nothing but an a-hole (using so many swear words) and then starts slamming his hand on the bar and abusing the poor bar girl. Not a good thing to be doing when you have customers in the bar!

Next thing they call the new waitress over and make her sit between them. These two scumbags pinned her in between them, she looked so scared and nervous, and went straight for the grope on her thighs and heading for other parts.

My two mates and I were sitting there and were so close to going over and smashing these animals, the only thing that stopped us was that the look from the original waitress who knows me…the look of “please, it will only make it worse.” Eventually the new waitress got away from them, but spent the rest hour or so up the other end of the bar so she didn’t have to go near them.

Then we have the music, which considering the above isn’t really that much of a thing, but the old classic rock and roll was gone, to be replaced by 90′s crap music. The music was a big part of what made this place a relaxing place to knock back a few beers with mates.

So, all-in-all I really hope this isn’t a sign of things to come, I would hate to see this place destroyed because of one pig who thinks he is god. I will be trying it out again to give it one more chance, and am hoping that last night was just a one off.

Last bit of advice for this new owner/part-owner – if you want to behave like this then move to Pattaya and buy a bar there you scumbag.”
