According to the management board of the Hanoi ancient quarter, Dong Ho and Hang Trong folk painting styles will be introduced and performed at the Heritage House at 87 Ma May street from January 24.

Dong Ho and Hang Trong folk paintings are two outstanding examples of national traditional culture. Hang Trong paintings are made at Hang Trong and Hang Non street in Hanoi ancient quarter. The paintings often serve religious and spiritual functions, decorating temples, communal houses, pagodas and sanctuaries; and serve the custom of playing traditional paintings, especially on the occasion of the lunar new year.

Dong Ho paintings often reflect an earthy folk philosophy bringing messages about ethics, morality and belief. The paintings also reflect the warm atmosphere of the lunar new year, wishing happiness, fortune and prosperity. Common animals in the country side such as cocks and buffaloes are manifested in the paintings.

In addition, traditional art performances will be held at Kim Ngan communal house at 42 and 44 Hang Bac street on February 1 (the second day of the first lunar month), Dong Lac communal house at 38 Hang Dao street on February 2 (the third day of the first lunar month), and the Centre for Hanoi Ancient Quarter Information at 28 Hang Buom street on February 3 (the fourth day of the first lunar month
