Review:
”George’s is one of the few womens clothing shops in Hanoi where I don’t feel like an absolute heifer. It’s Australian run, has sizes from 8 – 16 (I think) and there are no shop assistants gleefully telling me that I am ‘very fat’, or asking when the non-existent baby is due. They sell a lot of dresses, tops, skirts, singlets, some pants. Most of the clothes are made from very lightweight print cotton, and they have some things in stretch cotton as well. I’m always in-between sizes, but they are happy to measure you up and send the item to their tailor for adjustments. From memory tops are about 350 thousand and dresses around 650. Sometimes cheaper if there’s a sale on. It’s nice not to be XXXL every now and again.”
”I will never face another humiliating experience in a Vietnamese clothing store again thanks to George’s.
There are lots of different sizes and a pretty good selection. Almost everything is cotton or linen; I wish they would carry jeans.
I just bought two dresses, a skirt, and two pairs of leggings for 2M VND total. Very happy.”
”I hit this shop a few weeks back and was really glad. The location is good, the staff are uber-friendly and helpful — but without hovering. The fabrics are great too – many types of cotton, stretchy pieces as well as more structured garments. I think they’ll have success and wish them well.
The only drawback is the price – most of the pieces are not shockingly original and I could get these same clothes for much less back in the US, so I’m hesitant to visit frequently. A tshirt-fabric dress, for instance, was 800,000 and another cotton halter dress ran 900,000. Other pieces were higher. Also, when I asked if they had a return policy, they seemed a little puzzled. A clear return/exchange policy is in order.
That said, they are to be commended for offering a wide range of clothing for the western-sized bod.”
