The preparation phase
May missed the Miss Earth pageant twice before accepting the invitation to participate in the 2013 Miss Universe. With determination and relentless efforts, May began practice even before receiving a license from the Performing Arts Agency.
 After deciding to accept the invitation, May embarked on a hard training schedule. She actively participated in the skill training course. She also joined artisans to make rice paintings as gifts for contestants of the 2013 Miss Universe. Going to Russia
After the period of training and preparing for the pageant, May left Vietnam to Russia with the support of Vietnamese fans at home and in Russia.
 May traveled to Russia with the support of the home fans. May arrived at the airport in Moscow and was warmly welcomed by the Vietnamese community there. As soon as she set foot in Russia, May was able to feel the harsh cold of winter. The initial surprise and a bit of pressure to get familiar with everything in the shortest time, this was also the time when May had to face opposite comments besides the support of her loyal fans. Some people began to “doubt” the ability of May when she chose a one piece swimsuit. May was pretty sad and felt pressure but she still quietly absorbed the comment and perfected herself.
